Furniture Disassembly and Reassembly

Some furniture simply isn’t designed to move in one piece. Large wardrobes, bed frames and other bulky items can often be too big or unstable to safely move through doorways, around staircases or into certain rooms.

To help with this, Brays Removals and Storage offers a Furniture Dismantling & Reassembly service. Our team can carefully dismantle items where necessary before the move and reassemble them again in your new home.

Flatpack Furniture

Many modern furniture items, particularly cheaper flatpack furniture, are designed to be assembled once and left in place. Because of this they do not always tolerate being dismantled and rebuilt multiple times particularly well.

Wardrobes can also present challenges as the backs are often nailed or stapled in place, which can occasionally lead to minor damage around the fixings when the unit is dismantled, although we operate with great care to mitigate this risk.

Wardrobe Back Panels

Some wardrobes use very thin folding backs, often made from fibreboard or cardboard-based panels. These help reduce manufacturing and packaging costs but whilst they work when the wardrobe is first assembled, they don’t tend to hold up well over time, especially if the wardrobe has to be dismantled and moved.
Where these backs are damaged or unsuitable, we can offer an optional upgrade to a custom cut plywood back panel. Plywood provides significantly better strength and rigidity, helping the furniture remain stable for many years to come.
